Wedding Venues

As mentioned, Sean and I have been getting back into the groove of wedding planning.
Well, basically I pick out what I like, narrow it down to a few and then show it to Sean and hear his opinion. Then we pick. I find that the hardest thing is the venue!
When we were initially planning for the wedding we chose a beautiful location, Dubsdread. It's a golf and country could and has a really romantic feel.

Needless to say, when we had to put the wedding on hold, we also cancelled the venue. So now here we are, pretty much exactly a year later in the same boat: which venue to choose. Sure we could go back and choose Dubsdread again or we could continue looking to see if, maybe, there was something that fit our style more. I do not know if any other soon to be bride had the same feeling when locking in a venue as I did, which was: is this really the right place. All of a sudden I had these doubts, but then I thought I was reading into it too much and it just spun out of control from there. So, here are a couple of venues that Sean and I have narrowed it down to:

1. Buena Vista Palace
It's a wonderful hotel right on Disney property, without the Disney price tag. They have some more budget friendly options for couples like Sean and myself who are, pretty much, paying for the whole thing ourselves and we are also going back to school. The best part of this venue: they offer a lakeside ceremony location and a reception in their upscale lounge from which you can view the Disney fireworks at night.

2. Cruise
We were looking into either a Disney Cruise or Carnival Cruise. The Disney cruise is something we have always wanted to do and is less expensive to their on property weddings. Also, here we are able to get some of that Disney Magic mixed into our special day. The bad part: next to no customization.
The other cruise we looked into was a Carnival Cruise. Again we can combine wedding and honeymoon and they even allow non-sailing guests to attend an on-board wedding, as these are held while docked. This will allow all of our family to attend, without the extra cost of having to book a cruise. The best thing: all inclusive.

3. Winter Park Farmer's Market
After endless hours of searching, I found the Winter Park Farmer's Market building. It has an old world/vintage charm about it with a little bit of romance. Here you can have the ceremony and reception in the same place so there is no need to travel. Best part: you can do whatever you like. There is no "preferred vendor" list that will charge you $139.00 for half a chicken breast and some potatoes that you can get at your next Carabbas. You can make this as fancy or as low key as you like and you have complete control.

So far, I think Sean and I are really leaning toward the Farmer's Market. It's local (only about 15 minutes from our home), inexpensive, and we can design the whole thing from start to finish. I love the idea of a DIY wedding.

What do you all think? Where did you get married or where would you like to be married?

Operation: Wedding Bootcamp

The wedding is officially back on.. well sorta! Let's just say, it's "unofficially" back on. The reason I say this is because we do not have a date yet, we just know sometime later 2013. We also started looking back into wedding venues and things like that, so we are, slowly but surely, getting back into the groove.

Well, Wedding means Boot Camp. Fitness Boot Camp that is. Sean and I have been getting back into a routine of healthier eating and exercising over the last 5 weeks. I wanted to share this with other girls, women, and soon to be misses and even misters.

Let me start out by saying that I have not worked out in well over a year and have also stuffed my face with anything and everything during that time. Well, not only did I want to get in shape for when my big day approaches, but also because it was just time. Sean had also been saying that he wanted to work out again.

For the first 5 weeks now, we have been doing, mainly, cardio workouts. We go on a 3 mile walk/jog about 4 to 5 times per week. I would suggest taking this slow, especially if you have not worked out in a while.

Honestly, my first time back into the exercise thing, I walked about 80 percent of the way, but I was so glad that I went out there and did it. Week one I actually worked out 6 out of the 7 days, but then my body started yelling at me that it needed rest. Sure I felt like my body needed rest too, however my mind was so into this new routine and getting better, that I couldn't stop. After week 1, I started feeling some changes, as far as walking and jogging was concerned. I didn't get winded as fast as I did before, I didn't start sweating as early into the run and I was even able to jog, without stopping, for several minutes at a time.
I run, with Sean, in the local park right across the street. Obviously, if you do not have access to a park, you can go to a local gym. I am just trying to save some money while getting my butt back into shape.

Along with running, we have started eating healthier. I try to stay away from anything fried and substitute oil and butter for cooking spray. I am also incorporating way more fresh fruits and vegetables into our diet. I would say, on average, I eat about 1300 calories a day, but I do not actually count them. Counting calories, at least for me, turns into frustration about still being hungry, but already being at 1200 calories and then starving the rest of the night. I also did not weigh myself before I started working out, as I did not want to get wrapped up into numbers and maybe seeing my weight go up by a half pound or so and getting discouraged. Instead, Sean and I take pictures every couple of weeks and we look to see if we make progress that way. Honestly, it works!!!

Now that we are well into our first month and still doing extremely well, I was on the hunt for a new work out routine. As I was browsing the web, I found a 6 month workout plan. Here is it:

Month 1
Week 1 - 2: 20 minutes of aerobics/cardio at least 3 times per week
Week 3 - 4: 30 minutes of aerobics/cardio at least 3 times per week

Week 19 - 20: 40 minutes of cardio at least 3 times per week along with 3 sets of 15 stomach crunches, 3 sets of 15 push ups, 3 sets of 15 squats, 3 sets of 15 bicep curls, 3 sets of 15 tricep curls, 3 sets of 15 chest presses, and 3 sets of 15 *extra target area*

Month 6
Week 21 - 22: 40 minutes of cardio at least 3 times per week along with 3 sets of 15 stomach crunches, 3 sets of 15 push ups, 3 sets of 15 squats, 3 sets of 15 bicep curls, 3 sets of 15 tricep curls, 3 sets of 15 chest presses, and 3 sets of 15 *extra target area*
Week 23 - 24: 40 minutes of cardio at least 3 times per week along with 3 sets of 15 stomach crunches, 3 sets of 15 push ups, 3 sets of 15 squats, 3 sets of 15 bicep curls, 3 sets of 15 tricep curls, and 3 sets of 15 chest presses

A more detailed description, as well as some helpful hints can be found at The Knot.
One thing I can say is that, if you do not feel as though it is not working for you, change it up. If it's too much too fast, tone it down. This is merely a guide map, but isn't meant to be followed to a tee.

Also, to make sure that you are putting this workout to good use, create a healthier eating plan. Do not diet, as it will only make you gain more weight when you stop dieting. Just try to adapt a healthier eating regimen that you can keep for life. As Sean said: "it's also about making better choices". Instead of lathering on cheese and mayo onto that sandwich of yours, substitute these or try to pick one over the other.

I will be starting this workout tomorrow at week 6. I am very excited to have found this, as I do get bored fairly quickly.

What do you guys do to work out? What type of exercises?

Extreme Sunday Savings

I have not been couponing in quite some time, however I did find some awesome deals at Publix. Nothing spectacular but here goes:

(2) 2-Liter Pepsi Next = $1.89 each
- (2) $1/1 Pepsi Next Publix store coupon (found in Yellow Advantage flyer)
- (2) $0.55/1 Pepsi Next manufacturer coupon (Sunday paper)

(4) Sundown Naturals Supplements = $3.29 each
- (2) $5/2 Sundown Naturals Supplements store coupon (found in Green Advantage flyer)
- (2) $3/2 Sundown Naturals manufacturer coupon

(2) Purina Beneful Dog Food = $5.79 each
- BOGO
- (2) $2/1 Purina Beneful dog or cat food Publix coupon

Total after all coupons: $0.26
That's right, $0.26... I couldn't believe it. Even the cashier was shocked! The total before the coupons was $29 and some change.

Happy savings my friends.

Spinning: a new work-out favorite

I'm sitting on my couch, laptop right in front of me, TV on, and my thighs still burning from my venture into the land known as spinning. That's right, spinning. I've always been fascinated by this work-out phenomenon, especially when I heard that one of my very good friends was doing it too. Once I found out that she does spinning, I found myself asking numerous questions, but my interest stopped there.

I also started working out again, but soon found that running the same distance around the same lake every day is really boring. I became bored, my motivation went down, and I kinda found myself half-assing it. Not only did my friend do spinning, but she also used to take dance classes, and work out at the regular gym. I decided I needed to switch it up a bit and found numerous group exercise classes, but all of the facilities required an annual membership of $40+ per month. What happens if, after 2 weeks, I don't like that either? Now I'm stuck with another bill that isn't even for something I actually want or like doing. After 4 days of Google searches and posing an open question on Facebook, I found something. A fitness center about 10 minutes from my home, group classes, evening and weekend classes, and a pay-as-you go agreement, unless you want to do a contract. This opportunity was too good to pass up. So here we go.
It's called Cycletripz and is located in Winter Park, Fl. You walk in and there is a smell of fresh flowers mixed with vanilla greeting you. The lobby is painted a bright, yet kinda soothing pink with a counter to the left. I unfortunately do not remember her name, but the young lady who greeted me was extremely helpful, told me I get the first two classes free, and showed me around. As I was waiting for 11am to roll around, I noticed that there we two guys setting up the room with our bikes. Although I was excited to try something new, I now also became quite nervous. I mean I had never done this before and I had heard that this is one of the toughest classes you could take. When you walk into the room, you notice a huge neon-colored painting to your right and then the front of the room is lined with mirrors and two projection screens. In the corner is DJ equipment and you can hear house music starting to make its way into your ears. Also, to your left, are about 3 or 4 rows of bikes set up. We were only 6 people and two of us, including myself, were new. An instructor assisted us with getting our bikes set up and then told us to start riding, as kind of a warm-up, until the entire class was ready. Starting to sweat in 3... 2... 1...

The next thing I notice are the lights turning off and a blacklight being turned on; the music also got louder. Am I in a club? Fine by me. Underneath the sounds of the music, I hear a man's voice, I look up, and there is the trainer starting to lead us into the work out. It started with basic riding and then we had to stand up and increase the intensity. I am telling you, after 15 minutes, I was ready to jump back into my car and call it a day, yet somehow I was enjoying the exhaustion. My main goal was never to stop riding. I wasn't able to do all of the exercises we were supposed to for the amount of time we were to do them, but I did think I kept up very well as a newbie.

Thirty minutes in I told myself that I am halfway done and if I stop now, I wasted 30 minutes for nothing. So I kept going. Sweat was coming out of every pore in my body and I had to wipe the beads off of my forehead, so I wouldn't go blind for a few seconds, once that saltiness hit my eyes. At about 45 minutes, I really thought that i needed to stop. By this point I had tuned out the instructor, due to exhaustion, and just did my own ride. Although I may not have been doing the exercises exactly as everyone else had, I tried to still stay at the same resistance level and never stop (don't let them see you be weak!). I tuned back into the session when I heard him say "this is the last set before we get into the cool-down". This was my time to give it the last bit of energy and show the vets what this newbie can do. "Get ready for the cooldown in 3, 2, 1... and cool down by setting the resistance to the lowest level and just pedaling" - ah! The words I had been waiting for. Once we did some last minute stretches while riding the bike, we were told to get off and do some leg stretches. I got off and realized that I didn't think my legs could support me anymore. My legs were so weak from pedaling like a banshee that i had to, for about 3 seconds, hang onto the bike, so I could get used to standing again. After another round of stretches the class was done and everyone was clapping. A sigh of relief across the room. We cleaned out bikes, turned the lights back on, and headed out to our cars.

This was probably the single most exhausting workout I had ever done. Right after we were done, I wasn't sure if I could do this again, given how exhausted I was, but later on I realized that I loved the exhaustion. Needless to say, my next class starts tomorrow at 11am sharp.

When I got home, I did some research on spinning and found that this is the new "hip" thing in exercise. Not only because it is high intensity and involves you being in a group, but also because a one hour spinning session can burn anywhere from 500 to even 1000 calories. This depends on your weight and intensity as well. I mean talk about a fat burner!

Have any of you ever done spinning? How did you like it? Did you dislike it?

Disney Dining Plan: A review

As young kids, we never think twice about how much food costs when we go out to visit the mouse at his Magic Kingdom, however, when we are now earning our own dollars, they mean so much more.
As an avid Disney fanatic, I like to think I'm pretty savvy when it comes to anything Disney Parks related. Sure I don't know everything, but Disney is my passion, and I love to share the knowledge I have with others. Today I want to focus on the Disney Dining Plan.

The Disney Dining Plan (DDP) is available for individuals and families staying at any Walt Disney World owned resorts. Before I go into details about these plans, be sure to assess how much you are planning on eating out during your stay at Walt Disney World. It is not always worth the money you spend, if you only plan on eating one real meal a day, or if you are there for just a day or two.

Option 1
2012 Disney Quick Service Dining Plan
This plan includes (2) Quick-Service meals and (1) snack per person, per day. In addition, you will also receive a resort refillable mug, which basically gets you free refills throughout your resort, so you do not need to buy a new drink every time you are feeling a little thirsty.
Each Quick-Service meal for breakfast includes and entree and a non-alcoholic breakfast and for lunch/dinner it includes an entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage. You do get two quick-service meals per day, so you can mix and match. You can skip breakfast and eat lunch and dinner, or skip lunch and only do breakfast and dinner or two lunches... You get the picture.
The snack included is anything from an apple to an ice-cream bar or soda to popcorn.

Cost: Adult $34.99 and Child $11.99 per day, per person

Option 2
2012 Basic Disney Dining Plan
This plan is one of the most popular plans. It comes with (1) Quick-Service meal, (1) table-service meal, and (1) snack per day of your stay. The quick-service and table-service meal can be whichever one you like, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Your snack is still the same, giving you the option to choose from a drink, fruit, or something sweet. As this plan includes a table-service meal, that also gives you the option of attending a dinner show, but beware, these will cost you (2) table-service meals per person. This means that if you go to a dinner show today, you will have one day where you will not have another table-service meal. The same applied for private in-room dining or pizza delivery.
Also, as there is the table-service option, a table-service meal for breakfast includes an entree and non-alcoholic beverage and for lunch/dinner it includes an appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage or (1) full buffet.

Cost: Adult $51.00 - $53.00 and Child $15.00 - $16.00 per person, per day

Option 3
2012 Disney Deluxe Dining Plan
This plan is certainly "deluxe". This gem includes (3) meals and (2) snacks per person, per day of your stay and a resort refillable mug. This means you can choose from a table-service or quick-service spot. This one is a very popular option, but is a little more as far as the price is concerned.
A table-service meal for breakfast includes an entree and non-alcoholic beverage and for lunch/dinner it includes an appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage or (1) full buffet.
Quick-Service meal for breakfast includes and entree and a non-alcoholic breakfast and for lunch/dinner it includes an entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage.

Cost: Adult $85.00 - $89.00 and Child $24.00 - $26.00 per person, per day

Option 4
2012 Disney Premium Plan
This plan is, essentially, the same as the deluxe dining plan, but includes Character dining and signature restaurants (those that you see with the following symbol: $$$ and $$$$). When eating at a Signature Restaurant, such as the California Grill, your meal will include and appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage. Also, on this plan, you will not be charged (2) meals for any in-room private dining or dinner shows, but you will be billed for (2) meals if you order pizza.
This is what makes the Premium Plan so special: certain activities are included in the price of the plan. These include, but are not limited to, private fishing excursions, water sports, horse-back riding, gold lessons, carriage rides, and an array of park and behind the scenes tours.

Cost: Adult $179.00 and Child $129.00

Option 5
2012 Disney Platinum Plan
This plan is a continuation of the Premium plan described above. You get the same number of meals and snacks and a resort refillable mug. It also includes the excursions, as explained in the Premium Plan.
What sets this plan apart is that it includes a Disney Photopass CD, including all pictures taken by a Disney photographer, a fireworks cruise, the Richard Petty Ride Along experience, reserved seating at Fantasmic, and an array of spa treatments. It really cannot get more luxurious than that.

Cost: Adult $239.00 and Child $170.00

Now that we have gone through the options, there are a few things to remember:
1. Gratuities are not included
2. Photo products offered at character dining experiences will need to be paid seperately
3. Think Ahead and make dining reservations, as soon as possible. Popular restaurants fill up quickly.

For more information you can all visit the Walt Disney World website.

Berry Bonanza Bombs

Need a morning, mid-day or afternoon boost? Try this!

Ingredients
1 cup fat-free light vanilla yogurt
1 cup mixed frozen berries (blackberries, strawberries, raspberries)
1/4 cup orange juice
1 cup ice

Tools
Blender

Directions
Place all ingredients into a blender and puree until smooth or desired consistency is reached. Garnish with a slice of orange.

Egg White Breakfast Muffins

I hate making breakfast in the morning on a weekday because that means one thing: less sleep!
As I was doing some research, I found out that you could store cooked egg-whites in the fridge for about 3 to 4 days or freeze them and thaw when ready to eat for about a week. Now I have come up with the perfect, no fuss, healthy, breakfast.

Ingredients:
1 carton egg-whites (16oz)
1 medium sized zucchini
1 small yellow onion
1/2 yellow, orange, or red bell pepper
salt and pepper to taste
Pam or any other non-stick spray

Tools:
Muffin tin

Directions:
Set your oven to 350 degrees and let this preheat. Meanwhile, cut zucchini, lengthwise, into 3 long strips and then slice. Also cut the pepper and onion into strips. Spray a skillet with non-stick spray and add the veggies. Let this caramelize in the pan (depending on your stove, this can take anywhere from 5 to 10 or 12 minutes). Now spray your muffin tin with non-stick spray as well. Once the veggies are nice and golden brown, add a tablespoon, so that the bottom is covered, into each muffin holder. Fill, almost all the way to the top, with the egg whites. Place into the oven for about 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

From here, let them cool and refrigerate or, in twos, place them in a ziplock bag and freeze. When you are ready to eat, put them in the microwave for 30 seconds and top with cheese, salsa, sour cream, hot sauce, whatever your heart desires.
Best of all, these are really filling and are only 30 calories a piece!

Happy Easter!

Weekly Dinner List

Happy Saturday all,
I know I have been in and out for a while, but things have been a little hectic lately.
Moving on, I wanted to share my dinner list with you all again and see what you guys will be making this week. Let me know, as I am always up for trying to new recipes.
Most of these recipes were found on Gina's Skinny Recipes this week.

Saturday: Loaded Sweet Potato Skins with salad
Sunday: Bakes Tilapia with sweet potato mash and broccoli
Monday: Thai Chicken and Pineapple Stir-fry
Tuesday: Spinach and Bell Pepper Orzo with Shrimp
Wednesday: Chicken Enchilada Soup
Thursday: Roasted Potatoes with Chicken Sausage and Peppers paired with a salad
Friday: Cajun Chicken Pasta

So, feeling inspired? What are you making this week? Care to share a recipe?

Sweet Potato Boats

As I am on a new healthy eating kick, I am constantly on the lookout for new low calorie, yet hearty foods, which can be hard to find.
Anyhow, I was on Gina's Skinny Recipes, which my friend Bumfuzzled Jane showed me, and found these Loaded Turkey Santa Fe Baked Potato Skins.
They seemed hearty enough to give me the feeling of having eaten a thanksgiving dinner without all of the calories. I substituted the Russet Potatoes for Sweet Potatoes and pretty much followed the recipe to a tee. It was very good! It gave you all of the meat you crave, beans, corn, spice from a jalapeno, and creaminess from a little cheese and a dollop of sour cream. I paired this with a simple salad.
The calorie count on the website did say 76 calories per loaded skin, however I am not sure how that is possible. I guess it depends on the size of the potato also.
I am going to use the "meat" of the sweet potato for tomorrow's dinner.

Check out the website! It has great good for you recipes!
Happy Saturday!

Workout Buddies

Do you ever go to the gym or outside to do a workout, but realize that it gets kind of boring?
Well, I get bored very easily when working out and now that Sean and I have gotten back into the groove, I wanted to write about the benefits of having someone beside you working out with you.

1. Motivation - When you have someone doing the same thing you are, they are like the motivation you need when you feel that it is getting a little too tough to do by yourself. From encouraging words to actually helping you get off of you lazy butt and doing something.

2. Competition - I feel as though motivation and competition can go hand it hand. As much motivation as your buddy is, he or she can also serve as the goal you need to beat and surpass. They make you work harder without realizing it.

3. Companionship - As stated before, it can get really boring day in and day out when you are working out by yourself. If you have someone with you, you don't feel as though you are going through this by yourself.

I just recently got back into working out and today was the first time in a long time that Sean and I went running together. Although we were not side by side the entire time, just knowing that someone else was there reaching for the same goal you are made it so much more fun and exciting.

Do you guys work out with a friend? How do you like it?

Travel Obsession: Bora Bora

Today's post is dedicated to all of my fellow sand, water, and relaxation lovers. Today we travel to: Bora Bora!

Bora Bora is part of French Polynesia and is located in the Pacific Ocean. To get here from Florida it will set up back about $2000 and 25 hours in a plane waiting for you butt cheeks to wake back up from all the sitting. The reason I wanted to focus on Bora Bora today is because it is known, around the world, as having some of the most picturesque scenery as well as some of the most luxurious resorts.

For this post, there will not be a "things to see" section, as the best thing about this island are not its monumental sights, but rather the things to do in its crystal clear waters and over-water bungalows.

Let's start off with the most epic hotel stay you can imagine:
You are, literally, located above water. Need I say more? The famous over water bungalow's feature the best views you can imagine. Of the ocean. Of the mountains. Of the beach. Of the sea-life beneath you. For example, at the Four Seasons in Bora Bora, the rooms are, roughly, 1000 square feet and feature separate rooms for living and sleeping. For those traveling with a family in tow, you can even rent a 3 bedroom, 5000 square foot, private pool villa right on the ocean as well. This is only one example of numerous different resorts on the island, but, trust me, they are all just as beautiful as the next.

Moving on, within the resorts, you pretty much have private access to the ocean, as you can step out of your patio door, climb down a ladder, and snorkel among tropical fish. You can also stay in rooms that have an attached private pool. Also, imagine having your breakfast come to you by canoe. How awesome is that? I mean, that's the way to start out the day!

In case you haven't notice, if you travel here, you better love the ocean. The best activities you can do here involve the water.

1. Snorkeling: you can do this as a tour with a guide or you can just throw on your snorkeling gear and jump off of you patio into the shallow waters thriving of sea-life. In general, if you have never been snorkeling, you should go. It is an unforgettable experience.

2. Scuba Diving: I suggest, before you travel to Bora Bora, you get certified in scuba diving. This will give you the change to swim with sharks, rays, eels, and much less harmless fish.

3. Jet-skiing: the waters around the resorts are fairly shallow so you will have no problem riding through the waves of the crystal clear waters and soaking up some sun.

4. Shark and Sting Ray Feedings: One of the best things to do in Bora Bora is to be part of a shark feeding. A guide takes you out into the shallow waters and has you secured behind a rope and hand feeds sharks and sting rays right in front of you. Talk about a topic of conversation!

5. 4x4 Exursions: although most things take place in the water, there is still one awesome thing that takes place on land: taking a 4x4 into the lush greenery of Bora Bora.

Other awesome excursions include hikes into the mountain side, horseback riding, sailing, and parasailing. Don't worry, as far as food is concerned, you can have anything your heart desires. Bora Bora features cuisine inspired from all over the world.

Something we cannot forget about is cost. As these are some of the finest resorts you can possibly stay at, it comes with a price tag. As mentioned, a flight can cost you anywhere between $2000-$3000 dollars, in economy class. A week long stay at a luxury resort will, roughly, cost about $4000 per person or more. Luckily, the resorts are all-inclusive.

Lastly, I wanted to leave you with a video of the St. Regis resort in Bora Bora. Trust me, you will want to go here.
