NYE: it's been way too long!

As I was reading Bumfuzzled Jane's blog tonight, I stumbled across my blog in one of her links. While I certainly haven't forgotten about it, I honestly haven't had time and when I had time, writing was really the last thing I wanted to do. Why? Well, 7 days after my last blog post I started grad school. I am currently working towards my master's of psych degree!!! YAY!! That being said, I had papers due every week, discussion posts, mid terms and finals on top of a regular 40 hours job. Any free time I had was used to curl up on the couch and get a dose of my favorite reality shows with a couple of girls nights mixed in.

One of my resolutions this year is actually to pick back up with my blog. I am just trying to make the most out of this next year and all of the remaining years to come and I want to make sure I have time to do all of the things that I love, one of which includes writing on this site, even if not many are reading. It just gives me an outlet to share all of the things that I see, that I love, and that I want to remember. Well, that was my daily dose of corny that I will give you.

Other than that, I have hopped back on the healthy eating train and hoping I can ride it all the way to the finish this time. I never have a problem changing my eating habits but after about 6 months or so, something comes up and all of the sudden it erases all of the hard work that I have done. I admire my friend Sarah, aka Bumfuzzled Jane. She makes healthy living look so easy and I use her as inspiration. I ask her healthy living questions, whats good and whats bad, what certain foods do for your body, etc. I just need it to stick for me this time. This is another reason why I am not on a diet. I am just trying to make some healthier choices and all else will fall into place. I want to make sure that I can work this "healthier choice" change into my regular routine to where I won't have a problem subbing sweet potato fries for regular McDonalds fries or eating my pulled chicken sandwich with a side of roasted veggies instead of Publix's delicious pasta salad.

Anyhow, I do have some other resolutions or, as the news called them, "commitments":
  • make healthier choices
  • work out
  • keep up with my blog... regularly
  • get a 4.0 GPA
  • read a new book (this one carried over from last year...)
  • become the best wife ever! (I am getting married in about 6 months.. EEK!)
  • travel
  • be more outgoing around people I don't know
Those are my main commitments this year. I am sure, as the year goes on, I may think of more but, for now, that's all I have.

You know, I am not really sad that 2012 is coming to a close. Honestly, I didn't feel like it was that great of a year... I mean, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. A few highlights were the fact that I enrolled in grad school and made some concrete wedding plans as well as the birth of my godson. Sean and I also moved into this awesome new place, which truly feels like home! On the downside, doctors found that my nephew has a type of cancer but due to early diagnosis, he is currently free and clear. I am crossing my fingers that 2013 will be much better than this for him. Also, my grandfather passed in late summer. Other than that, 2012 was pretty uneventful.
I am so excited for 2013, however! I am getting married on 7.5.13 at my favorite place, Walt Disney World to my best friend! If I can pull it off, I will also graduate at the end of the year and we are planning an awesome honeymoon some time in the last couple of months of the year. I am excited to see many old friends who will be coming for the wedding, some of which I haven't seen in years.

On that note, I will leave you for the year and see you in 2013!
Have a happy and safe new year!
